Are your prepared for an emergency? The emergency preparedness committee was formed in June of 2008 to replace the old civil defense system. Making sure that Chaffee is prepared by having updated written plans in place and the right people in the right place at the right time to implement them is the committee's top priority. Tornados, flooding and earthquakes are some of the disasters we may experience in Southeast Missouri. Chaffee's proximity to the railroad may expose us to hazardous material emergencies as well.
Find out about the disaster plans for Chaffee and how
you can help by attending an Emergency Planning Committee meeting the
first Tuesday of every month 7:00 PM at City
Hall. If Disaster Strikes
Meet with your family and
discuss why you need to prepare for disaster. Explain the dangers of fire,
severe weather, and earthquakes to children. Plan to share and work
together as a team. Teach children how and when
to call 9-1-1 or your local Emergency Medical Services number for
emergency help. Assemble a disaster supply
kit Neighbors Helping NeighborsWorking with neighbors can
save lives and property. Meet with your neighbors to plan how the
neighborhood could work together after a disaster until help arrives.
Disaster frequently strikes
with little or no warning; be prepared. Planning in advance is something
you can do to keep you and your family safer.
